JATS XML Validator
NISO JATS 1.4 · Archiving (Green)
Paste, upload, or batch-validate JATS Archiving XML against the official XSD schema. Get well-formedness and schema reports, jump to any issue by line, and download results as JSON or HTML. Schema-valid Archiving XML alone does not establish SciELO SPS, PMC, or Crossref compliance.
How JATS validation works
JATS (Journal Article Tag Suite) is the NISO standard for structuring scientific articles in XML. Validating against the official XSD catches structural errors before SciELO, PMC, or repository submission.

FAQ
What does the tool validate?
It checks XML well-formedness and conformance to the JATS 1.4 Archiving (Green) XSD, including MathML 3.
Are my files uploaded to your servers?
Yes. Free validation runs on our servers. By default, free-validator content may be retained encrypted for product improvement (generally up to 180 days); manage this in Data Controls. For paid reports, XML is processed to generate your deliverable and is not kept as raw XML for product improvement.
What is the difference between JATS, SciELO, and PMC?
Generic JATS validates the base schema. SciELO and PMC profiles add platform-specific editorial and submission rules.
